Honda Mobilio MPV debuts in India at the Auto Expo
Thursday, 6 February 2014 by Unknown
After making its debut at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show in
Jakarta last year, the Honda Mobilio has made its India debut today at the
Auto Expo. Designed and developed exclusively for the Asian markets, the
Mobilio is Honda’s answer to the hugely popular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the
compact MPV space.
Like the Amaze sedan, the Mobilio is also based on the same platform as the
Brio. At 4.4 meters in length, the Mobilio sticks true to its MPV character,
providing more space than the car it's based on. The boot space, however,
with the seats up is nowhere near as good as say a Mahindra Xylo, but it
seems on to be on par with the Ertiga which will be Mobilio’s archrival.
Under the hood, the MPV is likely to use the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-
litre diesel engines found in the Amaze. Mated to a 5-speed manual and
possibly an automatic gearbox, the Mobilio is expected to deliver a class
leading blend of performance and economy.
The added convenience of a third row of seats and a desirable set of engines
make the Mobilio a very interesting proposition. When launched, the Mobilio
will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Chevrolet Enjoy.
