Honda unveils the CBR500R at 2014 Auto Expo
Thursday, 6 February 2014 by Unknown
Like the CBR 250R but find it a bit sluggish? Honda might just have the ideal
solution now that it has unveiled its bigger brother – the CBR 500R at the
ongoing 2014 Auto Expo. Known across the globe as an all-round touring
motorcycle, the CBR 500R has finally arrived in India.
Powering the CBR 500R is a 471cc, parallel twin engine producing 46bhp of
power. Mated to it is a six-speed gearbox tuned for long-distance touring.
Design wise, there’s very little differentiating the 500R and Honda’s flagship
litre-class machine – the 1000RR, especially from the front. However, the
former differentiates itself with its meaty exhaust can and a rather sedate
looking tail.
Honda will launch the CBR 500R in India later this year. When launched, the
bike will go up against the less powerful although equally exciting Kawasaki
Ninja 300R.
