New Honda City launched; price starts at Rs 7.53 lakh

Hyderabad, Jan 7:
Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has launched the all-new 4th generation Honda
City for the Indian market in petrol and diesel versions.
The ex-showroom petrol base variant starts at Rs. 7.53 lakh and goes up to
Rs. 11.4 lakh for high-end variant. And the much-awaited diesel base
variant-ex showroom is available at Rs. 8.77 lakh and the high-end diesel
variant will be available at Rs. 11.30 lakh-ex-showroom.
First introduced in India in January 1998, Honda City has a customer base of
over 4.3 lakh across the country.
City features
The all-new City, developed as a global sedan, embodies the best of Honda’s
technologies to deliver advanced sporty design, best comfort and best fuel
Efficiency. The company promises that the sedan will exceed customer’s
expectations.
M. Suresh Reddy, Managing Director, Pride Honda, said that the Honda City
diesel variant is one of the most awaited cars in the segment. With its
national launch today - Honda brings in the new dimension in the era of
efficient engines.
The new Honda City- 4th generation is available in all-new diesel engine and
IVTEC petrol engine.
Honda also launched the first of its kind mobile app that extends services to
their customers.

The company had discontinued the third-generation model of the car in
November. The fourth generation of the sedan was unveiled globally on
November 25.
“With the best of both petrol and diesel technologies available in Honda City,
we are very confident about the success of the model, which will significantly
contribute to our business growth in India,” Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL)
President and CEO Hironori Kanayama told reporters here.
The petrol variant of the new Honda City comes with the existing 1.5 litre
iVTEC engine, while the diesel version sports the recently launched 1.5
iDTEC diesel motor.
The new City was developed at the Honda R&D Centre in Tochigi, Japan,
following extensive market surveys in India and the ASEAN countries.
Honda Cars India other models include the compact sedan Amaze and
hatchback Brio. The Honda Amaze, introduced in April last year was the
company’s first diesel offering in India.
The company had sold 73,000 units in 2012-13 and aims to market 1.2 lakh
cars this financial year on the back of new launches.
The company had launched the first-generation Honda City in India in 1998
and has so far sold 4.3 lakh units.
